Expected experiences: Establish a research project that fits your interest. Previous experiences involved creating a database of lesions seen in swine, cattle, and Asiatic buffalo in Lao Slaughterhouses. Learn about the slaughter processes in a foreign country and how to insect meat for different types of pathology. This program my require the aid of translators to communicate in some instances, which may come at a cost; however, other research options may be pursued through the National Animal Health Lab that do not require a per diem cost for services. Again, research projects can be individually designed to fit your interests when communicating with the Lao scientific community. Best time of year: May to July Perfect for the summer after your first or second year. Housing: Nearby hotels (walking distance) are available for the duration of your stay with prices around $14/night (including AC, TV and private bathroom).
